DC vs Rampy for Starath

It's finally done!!!

If anyone EVER asks me to draw Rampage again, I swear, they will be sorry.

Third of four requests from DA (and one more from BWInt). I'm afraid the last one will have to wait for about a week, coz my friend is coming to stay for a while. Should be fun, we'll be doing a lot of stuff...look out, London! (She'll be here in less than an hour, so I'm making this quick)

The pic: a request from She asked me to draw Depth Charge and Rampage going at it in an arm wrestling competition...or something along those lines. I decided to give it a humourous twist, which I couldn't stop laughing at!

I drew DC first coz I thought, "I've drawn him before, but he's a bit tricky. So him first!"

.........how wrong I was.

I've never drawn/coloured Depth Charge digitally, but I have drawn him before. I have never, EVER drawn Rampage before. Oh. My. Fucking. God. (Pardon my French)

I don't CARE if he looks funny. I don't CARE if his proportions (or DC's) are off. I'm actually pretty OK with how he turned out. The both of them actually.

I'm telling you, it was so hard to find good reference shots for the crabby crustacean. I couldn't find a single one of the perspective I wanted. Looking back, I should have done it the other way around, as I found loads more back shots of Depth Charge, but by then I had already sketched the ray. Typical.

However, I'm very happy with the shading. Thank god for the dodge/burn tools. I used to think the were pointless, but I've recently looked up tutorials for things like background and fire and stuff, and their usefulness has come to light!!!

Speaking of background, yes, I have been practicing some, but this one...I just couldn't think of anything interesting. But at least I did shadows. I think I've only ever done floor shadow once before. Ever.

I almost left this unshaded to give it a cartoony look, but the colours on both of them just wouldn't allow it. I hope I salvaged the cartoon feel with their expressions and the litle lines around their head and ands
I know, the anvil looks shit, but it's the comedy that counts right? Right.
